Abstract

The focus of the study is the evaluation of the impact of food aid on food security in the area of Ngabu in the southern part of Malawi. Because of constant droughts and floods, food distribution has taken place in Ngabu almost every year. According to Dhaka (2005:ii), the people’s harvest over the past five years has never been enough and they therefore rely on food aid, hence the choice of the Ngabu area for study. This chapter discusses the background to the problem that has prompted the study and focuses on its importance, relevance and objectives. It briefly explains the research methodology and gives a chapter outline.
